What is Grief?

Grief is a natural and normal response to loss, but it can also be hard and painful. It can affect every aspect of our lives and cause various reactions and symptoms. We may feel shock, denial, anger, guilt, sadness, depression, anxiety, fear, loneliness, numbness, confusion, disbelief, relief, acceptance, hope, gratitude, or growth. We may also experience physical symptoms such as fatigue, insomnia, appetite changes, headaches, muscle tension, chest pain, nausea, or weakened immunity. There is no one right way to grieve. Everyone grieves differently and at their own pace. However, there are some coping strategies that can help us through the grief process and support our healing and adaptation. Some of these strategies are: Expressing our feelings in healthy ways. We can talk to someone we trust, write in a journal, create art or music, or cry when we need to.
